Edited by: Pavachek Secundus on 21/12/2007 16:45:59 I didn't see this info in the previoius posts so -
The ice in missions is only 100m3/unit. I've done 3 ice mining missions now and it's been 100m3/unit each time. Traditional yield calculations are obviously going to make it seem like a complete waste of time. Also, for very little isk, you can buy and fit a hauler that can haul 45m3+ of ore in a few trips so why complain about the volume needed to complete the mission. So what's the big deal? Even in 0.0, it's obvious that laser activation triggers the spawns so if you've already cleared them, why's it such a hassle to pick up a few jetcans if you know that no rats are going to interfere? (Player pirates aside ofc)
Honestly, I don't see what's so broken about them. I've run about quite a few mining missions in both high and low sec and I find the difficulty, bonus time, and rewards of a L4 mining mission to be just fine. Only one mission (I have the name written down at homie unfortunately) had a bugged completion. But it wasn't anything that 5 minutes of patiencently waiting for the journal to flash didn't clear up. Really, alot of the posts in this thread could be distilled into "I'm not skilled enough to tackle these so I'm going to cry until CCP breaks them for all the people who currently enjoy them." I wouldn't ordinarily make such a harsh statement regarding others, but it's tough to watch the whining extend all the way down to industrial missions.
The only thing I wish CCP had done differently was to give us a little warning that there were going to be gas mining missions. Forty-five mill isk and a little initiative soon makes that a non-issue but I would like to have been prepped in advance rather than having to do it on the fly.

Originally by: LITTLE W0LF I had to run out of the room for a few moments and I lost some special Ore to space when my cargo bay filled up (more than once actually) and yet at the end I still somehow finished the mission with 45,000m3.
Despite the message you get to the contrary, unrecoverable ore is not ejected into space. If you pull a cycle that won't completely fit in your hold, the excess ore remains in the roid. There are only two ways to lose mission ore - having it stolen or having a full mining drone get popped.
